In numerology, your Heart Desire Number is found by converting all the vowels in your name to their number value and then adding all the numbers until you reach a single digit.
Unless the result is an 11 or 22. They’re not reduced to a single digit because they’re considered Master Numbers. More about Master Numbers here.
Here’s an example of finding someone’s Heart Desire Number
But first – what are the number values of each letter in your name?
This chart shows the number value of each letter in the English alphabet.
So for example, the letter a = 1, b = 2, c = 3 and so on up to 9. As you can see the letter j returns back to 1 and so on till the last letter of the alphabet, z = 8
Okay, so let’s say your friend’s name is Rosemary Angelina Church.
What would her Heart Desire Number be?
First of all, let’s see just the vowels in her name.
O-E-A-Y (that’s the vowels in “Rosemary”. Yes, “y” is often classed as a vowel. Especially if the sound it’s making is like a vowel and uninterrupted. “Rosemar-ee”)
A-E-I-A (that’s Angelina)
U (that’s the only vowel in Church)
So now we swap out each letter for it’s number equivalent and add them up.
Like this:
6 + 5 + 1 + 7 (that’s O-E-A-Y)
1 + 5 + 9 + 1 (that’s A-E-I-A)
3 (and that’s U)
Add them all up and I get:
38.

This first result, the preliminary number is sometimes called the Karmic number.
But it’s not the final result, we still need to add these digits together.
Like this:
3 + 8 = 11
So Rosemary’s Heart Desire Number is 11.
Now normally, if you get another 2 digit number you would continue to add them again until you finally reach a single digit. For example a preliminary result of 10 would be 1 + 0 = 1. And a result of 18 would be 1 + 8 = 9.
And so on.
But not with 11. And not with 22.
They’re considered Master Numbers in numerology and so remain as 2 digits.
